pulling rushes from pond

There I am pulling the rushes before they completely take over the pond. The water is now at a very low level as a result of a dry summer. Perfect to wade in the pond and reduce the take over of the rushes. They are very easy to pull. They break off similar to rhubarb or breaking a celery stick from the stalk. I plan to trim back to about half of the current crop. All of these have to disposed of. Not difficult work, just tedious.

I sink to about mid calf in the muddy bottom. And the water level is at about mid thigh.

The rope is to help keep my balance and to assist when pulling my feet out of the muddy bottom.
Pictures taken by my daughter. :)
